Retargeting ads are a form of online target advertising and are geared towards users who have already visited a business website. There are two types of retargeting campaigns that are used.
Pixel-based retargeting is probably the most common type of retargeting. It is usually a small unobtrusive script that is placed on a user’s browser – making the browser “cookied”. When users leave the website, the “cookie” notifies retargeting stages to display particular ads based on the pages the user visited on the website.
List-based retargeting uses the contact information you have already collected. Basically you upload a list of email addresses to a retargeting campaign and then the platform will single out users on that network (IE: Facebook or Twitter) and display retargeting ads just to those users.
With retargeting campaigns you have goals that you need to keep in mind. There are a couple types of retargeting campaigns to choose from. Awareness campaigns are used to re-engage website users to show them relevant products, features or events. Conversion campaigns are getting users to click on your ad to fill out a form.
You have several options for implementing your retargeting ads. Social media usually works well since users are likely to share, reply and talk about content on one of those platforms. You can also use web targeting since the ads follow the target audience through the internet.
Retargeting is a great way to keep your potential clients engaged and interact with users who have shown an interest in a company.
